The weight of a 16mm steel rod is approximately 1.579 kg per meter, or about 9.63 kg per standard 20-foot rod. Formula: D² ÷ 162.2 kg/m.
The standard steel rod length used in Bangladesh construction is 20 feet (approximately 6.096 meters). Rods are sold in bundles at this length from rod mills.
Generally add 5% to 10% extra for wastage, lap joints and cutting losses. For complex structures with many bends and laps, use 10%.
